chocolate-peanut butter valentine’s day cake
the peanut butter cups were just the first part of the total dessert i wanted to make today. this cake is super easy to make, and looks so pretty.
use our last post to make the peanut butter cups. you can use any chocolate cake recipe for this, here’s the one that we like. the peanut butter filling is just extra filling from the peanut butter cups.
bake your cake in a 9” circular pan. when it’s done, let it cool completely. using a sharp knife, carve it into the shape of a heart, the same way we did in our chocolate pear tart post. then, carefuuuuuully slice the cake in half, keeping your hands holding the outside crust to ensure the whole thing doesn’t fall apart. if you waited until the cake fully cooked, you should be able to carefully lift the top half off from the bottom without it breaking.
place the bottom half on your serving plate, then spread the peanut butter filling on top. then just place the top half on. you can spread chocolate frosting all over this, but the peanut butter cups were enough chocolate for us to handle. :p
hope you guys all have a fun valentine’s day :D
